2022 Recipients of the John A. Penney scholarship

The John A. Penney Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2019 by his family to carry on his legacy and give back to the union and community which was such a big part of John’s life. The goal of this scholarship fund is to continue his efforts to make education and job opportunities in the electrical field available to all who have the drive and determination to work hard and learn the skills to become an electrician. John Penney was an electrician long before starting his own company and was a long-standing NECA trustee of the Local 103, the JATC and liaison between the members of the Local 103 and other contractors for over 30 years

Industry Leadership

John A Penney Company has always been a leader in the Electrical Construction Industry beyond just company operations. The company feels that it is important to promote the industry as a whole.

Participation

Representation in the Boston Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association has been consistent throughout the years. There has been a John A. Penney representative on the NECA Board of Directors every year since 1981. Of those, for 24 years the John Penney representative also served as an Officer of the organization. The Company has also had a representative serve as a trustee of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for 31 years, as well as served on the negotiating committee since the 1980’s. This dedication and commitment to the overall health of the industry is unparalleled over the last 4 decades of the Companies existence.
